Jan “JD” Robinson, CEO, has a rich and diverse background. Jan, a former United States Marine and later a federal sector civil servant, has held positions across ranging from clerical and technical to managerial and executive across several federal agencies. Her extensive experience in both the public and private sectors, supervising and leading administrative and technical support staff; developing and writing operating procedures and technical manuals; developing strategies to streamline and improve processes and conserve resources; managing budgets and resource allocations over $200 million; managing resources during and after continuing resolutions; providing consulting and training services; coordinating and planning special emphasis program events and other large events; developing strategic and operational plans; conducting on-site visits to other offices within the regions to ensure full compliance with regulatory standards of care; developing, writing and monitoring care plans and interviewing and hiring staff; establishing procedures and monitoring mechanisms to process improvement initiatives; developing and writing guidance for alternative dispute resolution; counseling, resolving and overseeing complaints of unlawful discrimination; facilitating quality of work life improvement studies and action plans; overseeing projects involving litigation over water rights; developing training programs and plans; managed and monitoring government procurement contracts and credit card spending within branch and division.
Ms. Robinson also has an extensive background in freelance and technical writing, providing advocacy and facilitation services to the elderly and the disabled, as well as dispute resolution. She too has experience in financial management and budgetary spending. She has worked extensively at all levels of this discipline including in administrative and management support to developing internal processes for contract monitoring and government credit card spending. She also has 20 years of financial coaching experience in the private sector and servicing her clients over several states in many areas including planning, implementation, insurance, mortgages, credit monitoring, debt management and investments.

Passionate about reading, learning, and creative writing, Jan also enjoys making new friends while seeking out creative ways to meet the needs of others. In her spare time, she spends time with her family, grows a lot of her own food, and studies holistic nutrition, herbal medicine, and naturopathic healing solutions. She also serves those in the underserved communities at large who need a helping hand, a listening ear, a servant’s heart or a voice.
Before establishing The UConn, Ms. Robinson served in several administrative, project management, leadership, technical, and support roles in the Federal government. Ms. Robinson has over 36 years of combined experience in a myriad of disciplines. A portion of those disciplines include project management, personnel management, financial planning, budget planning, development and execution, contract execution, strategic planning, technical writing, employee training and development, process development and streamlining, records and resources management, FOIA and PII, equal opportunity and dispute resolution. She has worked for six federal agencies and has managed special regional projects and operations that span over 5 and 7-state regions. Ms. Robinson has overseen the development, planning and execution of many tasks force operations and facilitated focus group strategies to address workplace challenges. She has overseen detention facility budgets and cost center spending as well as mail operations, records disposition and in partnership with foreign dignitaries, special emphasis program conferences and events.
Retiring early from the federal government to pursue her entrepreneurial dreams.Jan has always believed in service and community. Along with other successful, preceding entrepreneurial endeavors, founding divisions at providing advocacy. What initially started out as a single advocacy service to the disabled, elderly and veteran communities that included procurement, planning, and connecting these groups with services, solutions and products has now grown into a full-blown service to both public and private sector entities and individuals.
